BeachesBuzios Center / Armação Beach / Ca to BeachPraia dos Cantos and Armaçao are the central beaches in Buzios, they are ideal to walk around at sunset and enjoy the stunning setting of the sun among fishing boats and luxury cruises. The beaches are not suitable for bathing because of the large amount of vessels concentrated in the ports. A great deal of the original Búzios architecture can be seen in the form of fishermen's cottages. Amores Beach I Virgens BeachAmores Beach or "lovers beach" is a small, deserted and very romantic cove. Nadusim is accepted, even though the town centre is close.Walk along the coast from Praia do Canto or take a water taxi boat to get there. Virgins Beach is a small rocky cove whose green vegetation is reflected in the colour of the water. Named after its untouched flora and fauna. A good place for meditation and to feel in harmony with nature. Access is only possible by boat, or by climbing down the hill slopes. Ossos BeachPortraying perect harmony between its historical past and nature, Ossos beach is considered to be one the main sights of Búzios. Fishermen have been casting their nets for centuries in this lovely cove with clear, calm waters. The number of buildings is limited, and the traditional architectural style blends well with nature. The lovely Sant' Anna Church and Yacht Club, are vestiges of a not too distant past, giving a pleasant sense of nostalgia. Azeda BeachSituated in a conservation area, Azeda Beach is considered to be one Brazil's most beautiful beaches. With natural pools and clear waters it is ideal for diving and snorkelling. A colonial house from the 50's which was once owned by the grandson of the founder of Buzios, gives this beach its charm. It derives its name from the lime coloured waters. Azedinha BeachJust around the corner from Azeda beach you'll find Azedinha beach, a true gem! A beach of dazzling natural beauty, with crytalline waters and beautifully symetrical rock formations. This beach is located at the northern end of the peninsula and is only accessible by footpath from Azeda/Ossos or water taxi. Foca BeachLike a temple crafted by nature, its blue waters and rock formations are unique in Búzios. Because of its relative inaccessibility, Foca Beach offers complete privacy for a privileged few. Named after the seals which are sometimes brought to this beach by the surging waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Access is by a footpath which is signposted. There are NO beach bars. João Fernandes BeachThe amazing transparency of its calm emerald blue waters, makes João Fernandes Beach the ideal place for bathing, diving, snorkelling and fishing. This beach is the haven for international tourists and families as it has good infrastructure, and a wide variety of good/semi-expensive restaurants and many hotels and apartments. Very populated during high season. The beach is named after a Portuguese colonist, who used the beach as a defensive site against attacks by pirates and indians. João Fernandinho BeachJoão Fernandinho Beach is tiny cove, with green-blue waters, rocky cliffs and soaring seagulls. Just like its previous beach, there are a lot of roadside bars where you can relish yourself with delicious dishes of fish and seafood, surrounded by the picturesque guest houses and hotels that have a remarkable view of the sea. Olho de Boi BeachAt a steep climb from Brava beach is the peaceful beach of Olho de Boi, an extremely virginal naturist beach. Brava BeachThe key to this part of the peninsula is stunning nature with its rolling green hills, few buildings and unspoiled beach. Brava Beach has 2 distinct beaches that are wilder and less popular than the rest of Buzios.The Buzian paradise for surfers, because of the huge waves and few bathers. Ideal for surfing. An expanse of open sea, clear blue water, and pink sands flanked by rock formations, provide a visual feast. The beach derives its name from the huge waves.The loneliness of these spots is enjoyed by women that like to sunbathe topless. The water is usually transparent with calm waters and a wide variety of marine life can be seen amongst the rocky platforms at each end of the beach. Here, all roads lead to nature. The rocky cliffs around the beach create a natural acoustic shell. It derives its name (Oven Beach), from the fact that the reddish sand and rocks create high temperatures on the beach. Ferradura Beach (Bay)Ferradura Beach is the most representative beach of the historical Búzios, prior to the touristic boom. A bay in the form of a horseshoe, with rocky headlands. If you are looking for peace, calm and clear waters go to the far end of this bay - beautiful! Ponta da Lagoinha (lagoon) I Foca BeachPraia Foca and Ponta do Lagoinha make an ideal day trip as they are so close to each other and yet so different that they are a beautiful contrast to see and enjoy. While Foca is a rather small and quiet beach, Lagoinha is a gorgeus geological reserve due to its beauty and peculiarity. It is an ideal place to sunbathe over the rocks, to dive in the relaxing natural pools and appreciate the fauna from its sea. The natural lagoon, formed by the sea?s eroding waves, and the abundance of cacti, give an impression of natural energy, which many local residents consider to be of great mystical significance. Tartaruga BeachTartaruga or "Turtle" Beach takes its name from the turtles that usually appear in its waters. Tartaruga is a very popular beach, although it is a bit distant. At the left end of the beach, there is a footpath through the bush vegetation leading to Ponta da Sapata. Ideal for children. Geribá BeachGeribá Beach is a wide, extensive bay with turquoise waters and excellent waves for surfing. One of Búzios? most beautiful beaches, it is very popular with the young crowd. The beach is dotted with healthy bronzed bodies, and attracts many Brazilian celebrities. Ideal for beach sports such as bodysurfing and vollyball. A very populated area with a wide offer of food and drinks. Popular spot to celebrate New Year's Eve. Geribá derives its name from a tall palm tree, common along the Brazilian coast. Ferradurinha BeachFerradurinha Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches of Brazil. A light breeze blows through the hills, and through the nearby rock formations which resemble a bas- relief painting. With white sands, and calm transparent water, it seems like a huge natural pool flanked by rocks. A dive from its 12 meters high is an unique sensation for those who dare to it. Manguinhos BeachThe beach or bay of Manguinhos is named after its mangrove-like vegetationis lined with "Casuarinas", native trees, which add a touch of magic to the bay. Manguinhos is a large stretch of firm sand, with a shifting tide, warm waters, strong winds and gentle swell that is the favourite of windsurfers and yachtsmen. Not only it is wel-known because of its several kilometers wide beach, but also it is so by its Fishing Colony, an organization that represents local fishermen, where you can get fish and seafood at reasonable prices. Rasa BeachRasa Beach represents the typical Río de Janeiro state coast and was an important settlement for runaway slaves. The beach derives its name from its shallow tourquoise waters. This unspoilt natural beach is cooled by a constant east wind, making it perfect for sail sports, and for long invigorating walks. KEY WORDS: Kite surfing, windsurfing, dark sand, peacefulness, golf course, far from center, not ideal for swimming.Tucuns BeachTucuns Beach is open to the sea, with large waves, white sands and dunes. At both ends there are rocky headlands with conditions ideal for surfing. The beach is noted for its unspoilt and undeveloped natural environment. Named after a type of palm tree, which was commonly found along the coast. The tree was named "Tucum" by the local Tupi indians. The tree has large leaves, and strong fibres which were used to make ropes, hammocks and fishing nets. José Gonçalves BeachJosé Gonçalves Beach is a small cove with greenish-blue waters lapping on to strangely coloured rock formations and is part of the "Emerencias", Conservation Area. Nature's energy can be harnessed here for surfing, or hiking on the hilly footpaths, always taking care to preserve the area's natural beauty. A slave trader called José Gonçalves used this beach as a hidden landing point for slaves. Decades later, a small fishing colony grew in the region, specialising in shellfish, which is sold to restaurants in Búzios and around. Not to be missed Caravelas BeachCaravelas Beach is a cove facing the open sea, with large waves and lush vegetation. Ideal for diving. Near the rocks you can see turtles, which are no longer found at the other beaches. It was here that the « Instituto Mata Atlántica « (Atlantic Forest Institute) was founded, creating an important conservation area.The beach is named after the first ships to arrive in the area.
